چکیده

Novelty Detection is an approach to classification that offers advantages over conventional techniques for monitoring high-integrity systems and manufacturing processes: it is not necessary to provide fault data to the system during development. Instead, providing a sufficiently comprehensive model of the system‟s normal behaviour has been formed, deviations from normal working conditions can be identified automatically. As information is discovered regarding the causes of these deviations it is then possible to move from novelty detection to diagnosis, but the ability to identify previously unseen abnormalities is retained at all stages. This paper describes the results of an investigation for condition monitoring of a manufacturing process using techniques from novelty detection. We show that this approach allows the automatic identification of abnormal processes, providing identification of potential tool wear, giving advance notification of failure for the avoidance of bad processes.

Predicting Failure in the Hydraulic Lift Structures with Monitoring and Fuzzy Logic

There are several strategies for maintenance and repairing of devices in industry. However, they are still confronted with many uncertainties. A hydraulic lifting device after ten years of working in a technical center in Isfahan is faced with uncertainty in terms of reliability. Being able to know the reliability of pieces means predicting failure occurrences, which is accomplished by conditio...

Rapid design of tool-wear condition monitoring systems for turning processes using novelty detection

Condition monitoring systems of manufacturing processes have been recognised in recent years as one of the key technologies that provide the competitive advantage in many manufacturing environments. It is capable of providing essential means to reduce cost, increase productivity, improve quality and prevent damage to the machine or work-piece. Turning operations are considered one of the most c...

Monitoring Fuzzy Capability Index $widetilde{C}_{pk}$ by Using the EWMA Control Chart with Imprecise Data

A manufacturing process cannot be released to production until it has been proven to be stable. Also, we cannot begin to talk about process capability until we have demonstrated stability in our process. This means that the process variation is the result of random causes only and all assignable or special causes have been removed. In complicated manufacturing processes, such as drilling proces...

Phase-I monitoring of standard deviations in multistage linear profiles

In most modern manufacturing systems, products are often the output of some multistage processes. In these processes, the stages are dependent on each other, where the output quality of each stage depends also on the output quality of the previous stages. This property is called the cascade property. Although there are many studies in multistage process monitoring, there are fewer works on prof...
